Actress Jennifer Lawrence has officially confirmed she will reprise the role of Katniss Everdeen in the new franchise film "The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping." The Oscar winner made the announcement openly, without teasing or evasive wording, during an episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, infohub.kz reports.

Rumors of a possible return had circulated for about a year, but until now neither the actress nor the filmmakers had given a direct answer. According to Lawrence, working on the project stirred strong emotions in her.

On set, the actress reunited with a familiar crew of camera operators and assistant directors, as well as with her regular co-stars from the original series — Josh Hutcherson and Woody Harrelson. Lawrence recalled the atmosphere on set warmly and joked that Harrelson, out of old habit, even climbed into her hotel room through the window.

"The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping" serves as a prequel to the main events of the universe. The plot centers on the youth of Haymitch Abernathy and the deadly Games he managed to survive. In the original novel, Katniss appears only in the final epilogue, but the filmmakers have not yet revealed whether the adaptation will include that book episode. The film is scheduled to premiere in theaters on November 20.
