Legendary fashion designer John Galliano, who has worked at the Parisian fashion houses Givenchy and Christian Dior, has released his first collection for the mass-market brand Zara. Vogue magazine published a preview of the new campaign, according to infohub.kz.
The collection is titled Re{form} Zara Authored by the Couturier John Galliano. For its foundation, the designer took existing Zara garments and reimagined them, altering cuts, proportions, and details.
For example, he recut a wool coat, changing the placement of pockets, the shape of lapels, and the length of the hem. He transformed a slip dress with lace trim into a design with a voluminous detail around the neck, and enlarged a cotton shirt to sizes XXXL–XXXXL, turning it into a jacket with a leather-effect print.
According to Galliano, he used the principle of "resampling and digital mixing": the designer took existing garments and reassembled them. The collection also features pieces made of sheer tulle, jackets, and accessories with references to historical costumes.
In particular, as Vogue writes, the designer drew on the imagery of the French Revolution era—the silhouettes of les Incroyables and les Merveilleuses. These motifs had already appeared in his 1984 collection at Central Saint Martins.
Prices start at $29.90 (about 14,400 tenge). By comparison, one of Galliano's couture works for Christian Dior sold in January 2026 for €663,000 (about 380 million tenge).
The designer's collaboration with Zara is set for two years and calls for the release of four collections. For Galliano, this project marks his first major work since leaving Maison Margiela in 2024.
The first Re{form} Zara Authored by the Couturier John Galliano collection should already be making its way to Zara boutiques worldwide.
