Dutch specialist John van 't Schip has been officially presented as the new head coach of the Kazakhstan national football team, reports infohub.kz.
The Kazakhstan Football Federation (KFF) has reached an agreement with the 62-year-old coach. In the coming days, his candidacy will be considered by the Executive Committee, after which the parties will sign a contract.
The coaching staff of the Kazakhstan national team includes: assistants Nurbol Zhumaskaliyev and Yeldos Akhmetov, goalkeeper coach Yuri Novikov, fitness coach Vadim Borovsky, and analyst Timur Kusainov.
Van 't Schip began his coaching career in the youth system of Ajax Amsterdam, which he later managed at the first-team level. He also worked with Twente, PEC Zwolle, Mexican club Guadalajara, and Australian club Melbourne City. In 2016, he led the Australian club to victory in the national cup.
At the international level, the Dutchman has managed the national teams of Greece and Armenia, and previously was part of the coaching staff of the Netherlands national team. His most recent position was head coach of Armenia, which he left in August 2025.
As a player, van 't Schip represented Ajax, Italian club Genoa, and the Netherlands national team. With the national team, he won the European Championship in 1988.
The first official match of the Kazakhstan national team after the summer break is scheduled for September 26 – the team will play away against the Faroe Islands in the Nations League.
