Wildfires in southern France have come dangerously close to Château Miraval, the winery that has been at the center of a legal dispute between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt for years. The estate, located in the village of Correns in the Provence region, is under threat, according to infohub.kz.
According to TMZ, massive fires have swept through the area, and aerial photos show thick smoke enveloping the winery and surrounding vineyards. Fortunately, the main building of Château Miraval has not been damaged so far. Firefighters are battling the blaze using helicopters and specialized equipment, drawing water from a lake on the estate's grounds.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie purchased Château Miraval in 2008 for $28.4 million (approximately 13.4 billion tenge). It was there that Pitt proposed to Jolie, and in 2014 the couple held a secret wedding.
After their separation in 2016, the former spouses became embroiled in a lengthy legal battle over the winery. Pitt is seeking $35 million (about 16.5 billion tenge) in compensation, claiming that Jolie sold her stake in the estate without his consent. Despite the divorce being finalized in late 2024, the dispute over Château Miraval continues.
