In the Almaty region, a jury has acquitted a woman who had been charged with the murder of her husband. The tragic incident occurred on May 1, 2026, according to infohub.kz.
According to the press service of the specialized inter-district court for criminal cases of the Almaty region, a conflict broke out between the spouses at their place of residence. During the quarrel, the woman inflicted a single stab wound to her husband's heart with a kitchen knife, resulting in his death at the scene. She was charged under Part 1 of Article 99 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan (murder).
The criminal case was heard with the participation of a jury. During the trial, all evidence presented by both sides was thoroughly and objectively examined. After considering the case, the jury returned a verdict of not guilty, finding that the defendant had not committed the crime she was accused of. Based on this verdict, the court declared K. not guilty of the charges and issued an acquittal.
The court also lifted the previously imposed preventive measure of detention. The civil lawsuit filed by the victim's side for moral and material damages was left unsatisfied. Court costs were borne by the state.
The verdict has not yet entered into legal force and may be appealed in accordance with the law.
