Almaty's Kairat defeated Atyrau away in the 18th round of the Kazakhstan Premier League, reports infohub.kz.
The match took place at Turkistan Arena, with Atyrau as the nominal hosts, and ended in a 3-1 victory for Kairat.
The scoring opened in the 8th minute of the first half when Atyrau's Croatian defender Franjo Prce put the ball into his own net. By the middle of the first half, Brazilian forward Edmilson had scored a double.
In the second half, the team from West Kazakhstan pulled one back: Brazilian striker Henrique scored in the 70th minute.
The win allowed the Almaty side to reach 42 points and reclaim the top spot in the championship. Atyrau, with 18 points, dropped to 11th place in the KPL standings.
