An 18-year-old girl is in hospital in serious condition after a crowd crush at a Kairat Nurtas concert in Shymkent, and police have opened a criminal case and detained the organizers of the event, the website infohub.kz reports.

According to the Shymkent city health department, eight concertgoers sought medical help during the Kairat Nurtas concert at Kazhimukan Munaitpasov Stadium. Seven of them were released home without hospitalization.

"One 18-year-old girl was injured and taken to hospital. Her condition as of this morning is assessed as stable but serious, with some improvement. She is receiving the necessary medical care and is under the supervision of specialists," the city health department said.

Shymkent police also confirmed that one female concertgoer was injured due to the large crowd at the concert and was taken to hospital. A criminal case has been opened over the organization of the concert without compliance with the relevant safety requirements.

The organizers of the event were taken to the police. Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of what happened. Appropriate procedural decisions will be made based on the results of the investigation.

It is worth noting that the Freedom Afishi team expressed concern over reports of injuries at the Kairat Nurtas concert in Shymkent and said it was ready to assist law enforcement agencies in establishing the circumstances of the incident. The company also asked those injured and eyewitnesses to contact it.
