A wellbeing calculator that classifies Kazakhstanis into levels from A to E was presented at a briefing at the Central Communications Service. To illustrate how it works, specialists ran the data of the Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, the website infohub.kz reports.

Labor and Social Protection Minister Asqarbek Yertayev said he is 48 years old and earns 1.2 million tenge in his post. His wife is 44 and does not work.

The minister has four children, aged 29, 23, 13 and 4. The two eldest sons are employed and earn salaries of 600,000 and 400,000 tenge.

The minister's family owns two apartments of 100 and 60 square meters, as well as a 2013 Toyota Camry.

The wellbeing calculator determined that the minister's family falls into category B — a well-off level of wellbeing.

Deputy Labor and Social Protection Minister Bakhtiyar Zhazykpayev said the calculator would be unveiled later today.

"Using the calculator, you can simulate exactly your own household, your assets, whether you have transport. Another important thing here is that the methodology assesses two components — material wellbeing and a social component. The social component takes into account the monthly burden, whether the family includes persons with disabilities, people of retirement age, those registered at a dispensary, and so on. In other words, more than 59 indicators are taken into account under a two-dimensional model," the deputy minister said.

Recall that from January 1, 2027, certain types of benefits in Kazakhstan will be provided on the principle of need — based on an objective assessment of a family's level of social wellbeing.

It was reported earlier which Kazakhstanis will be assigned to categories A (high level of wellbeing), B (well-off), C (income from 305,000) and D (on the poverty line) and E (the most vulnerable category).
