DonnaJean Wilde, a 61-year-old Canadian, held a classic abdominal plank for exactly five hours at a competition in the U.S. state of Utah, according to infohub.kz.
The Canadian athlete broke her own world record for the longest women's plank at the Huntsman World Senior Games. During her attempt in Utah, she assumed a forearm plank at 3:03 p.m. and remained in the static position until 8:03 p.m.
This is not Wilde's first such achievement. Her previously registered Guinness World Record stood at four hours, 30 minutes and 11 seconds, but this time she aimed to improve on it. According to the Canadian, toward the end of the attempt she felt strong doubts and fatigue, but the support of the crowd helped her push the time to five hours.
In preparing for the competition, Wilde used an unusual method: during plank training, her three-year-old granddaughter would lie on her back. The day after the five-hour effort, the athlete already took part in a 3,000-meter race. The result has now been submitted for official registration with Guinness World Records.
