Fans gathered at Almaty's Central Stadium for Kanye West's concert learned that the event has been postponed to the next day, August 15, according to infohub.kz.
After a brief wait, the artist never appeared on stage. Instead, organizers announced that the concert would be moved to tomorrow, citing security measures that they said were of utmost importance. Many in the audience initially thought it was a joke, but soon, in shock, they began to disperse.
Organizers assured that tickets remain valid for tomorrow's event, which will take place at the same time. A correspondent sought comment from the city administration.
It is recalled that today a massive blackout occurred in Almaty, the Almaty region, and other parts of Kazakhstan. According to the press service of the Ministry of Energy, the cause was a power surge in the energy system triggered by a sharp change in electricity flow from the Central Asian energy system.
The large-scale power outage created problems before the concert, but organizers continued to let spectators into the stadium. The weather also played a role: just an hour before the show, the daytime heat gave way to a hurricane and lightning. Wind gusts tore down tents near the public restroom at the stadium, but they were quickly set back up.
