FC Kairat has officially announced the relocation of its matches from Almaty to Turkistan due to the concert of famous rapper Kanye West, reports infohub.kz. The move has been approved by UEFA.
On July 17, information emerged about a possible Kanye West concert in Almaty. Initially reported by his manager Joseph Carré, the Almaty city administration later confirmed the concert will take place on August 14 at 9:00 PM at the Central Stadium.
However, after the concert announcement, FC Kairat management stated they had not agreed to the event being held at Central Stadium.
Today, the club's press service issued a new statement, reminding that the concert coincides with a home match in the third qualifying round of European competitions, making the home stadium unavailable. The statement reads: "Given the circumstances and the tight schedule of the European competition, the club appealed to UEFA to relocate the potential home match of the third qualifying round. Following review, the match was approved to be held in the city of Turkistan at the Turkistan Arena stadium."
The club added that information about the match date, time, and ticket sales will be announced later, once the team's further European path is determined.
