Ahead of the long-awaited concert by American rapper Kanye West, also known as YE, in Almaty, scammers have become active, trying to profit from the hype. The Almaty Police Department has already stopped one attempt to illegally sell tickets online, reports infohub.kz.
As reported by the press service of the Almaty Police Department, during monitoring of social networks, police identified a young man who had posted an ad selling tickets to the upcoming concert. His illegal activity was promptly stopped — he did not have time to carry out his plan and deceive buyers.
The police noted that this case is just one example of preventive work. Ahead of major cultural and sporting events, police officers monitor social networks, classified ads sites, and online platforms around the clock, identifying cases of fraud and attempts to make illegal money from increased demand.
The police urged residents and guests of the city to buy tickets only through official services, not to transfer money to strangers, and not to trust dubious online ads.
Recall that on July 17, information appeared about a Kanye West concert in Almaty. First, his manager Joseph Carré announced it, later the Almaty city administration confirmed that the concert would take place on August 14 at 21:00 at the Central Stadium.
However, after the announcement, the management of the football club Kairat stated that the organization of the event at the Central Stadium had not been agreed with them. Later, the club's press service issued a new statement reminding that the concert falls during the period of a home match of the third qualifying round of European competitions, so the home arena of FC Kairat will be unavailable for organizing and holding the match.
