Ahead of the highly anticipated Kanye West concert in Almaty, scheduled for August 14 at the Central Stadium, the city police have issued a fresh warning about counterfeit tickets. Law enforcement officials have shared tips on how to avoid falling victim to scammers when purchasing tickets for the year's most awaited musical event, reports infohub.kz.
The Almaty Police Department strongly advises buying tickets only through official services. As explained by the department, after payment, the buyer receives a voucher, which on August 13 will be automatically replaced with an electronic ticket featuring a unique QR code. Until that date, no ready-made tickets with QR codes exist, so any offers to sell such tickets "from hand" on social media or messaging apps may be fraudulent.
Ticket resale is also only possible through official channels: the previous voucher is canceled, and a new one is issued to the new owner. Police urge Almaty residents not to transfer money to strangers and to verify information only through official organizer channels.
Earlier reports indicated that with the growing excitement around the concert, scammers have become more active. During social media monitoring, police officers identified a young man who had posted an ad selling tickets to the event. He did not manage to complete his fraudulent scheme—police timely stopped his actions, and potential buyers were not harmed.
Additionally, rumors have recently surfaced on social media and messaging apps that ticket prices would significantly drop or that a discount sale would begin just before the concert. Organizers have denied this information, calling it fake.
It is worth recalling that over 100 tons of technical equipment for Kanye West's show have already been delivered to Almaty. About 15 trucks with all stage structures, lighting, and sound are heading to the city.
