The criminal appeals panel of the Karaganda Regional Court has upheld the legality of the sentence in the case of an attack on police officers, as reported by infohub.kz.

According to the official Telegram channel of the Karaganda region courts, the case involves two defendants who, according to the case files, committed violence not dangerous to life or health against representatives of the authorities while they were performing their official duties. The crime was committed by a group of persons.

On August 10, 2026, the appellate panel reviewed the criminal case against D. and D., who, being in a state of mild and moderate alcohol intoxication, on February 7, 2026, at approximately 2:10 a.m., near the entrance to the cafe "CC38" located in the city of Abai, according to the first-instance court verdict, used violence not dangerous to life or health against two representatives of the authorities who were taking lawful measures to stop illegal actions and a fight among patrons of the establishment.

"The convicts did not respond to the demands of the police officers, showing disobedience to the lawful demands of the authorities. D. and D. attacked the police officers, striking them several times in the head, face, and back. Despite the arrival of additional police units, D. and D., acting as a group, continued to resist the authorities, refusing to comply with lawful demands to go to the Abai district police department. D., grabbing the duty inspector by the hood of his uniform, pulled him down, and taking advantage of this moment, D. delivered two more blows to the area of the police officer's right eye," the statement said.

By the verdict of the Abai District Court of the Karaganda Region dated May 4, 2026, D. and D. were convicted under Article 380, Part 4, Paragraphs 1) and 3) of the Criminal Code to 3 years and 6 months of imprisonment. The appellate panel, having reviewed the criminal case received on the appeals of the convicts and their defense lawyers, left the first-instance court verdict unchanged.

The first-instance court verdict has entered into legal force.
