Prosecutors in Kazakhstan's Karaganda Region have introduced a mechanism for the early identification of minors at risk. According to NUR.KZ, citing the supervisory authority, an algorithm has been developed and put into operation for the early detection of self-destructive behavior among students, enabling timely recognition of warning signs in children's behavior and prevention of threats to their lives and health, the website infohub.kz reports.

Specific cases have confirmed the practical effectiveness of the new approach. In September, at a school in Karaganda, a teacher-psychologist identified signs of possible family hardship and child abuse. Thanks to prompt action under the algorithm, the information was immediately passed to the school administration. Examinations revealed physical injuries on the children.

A similar case involving three children was identified by a homeroom teacher in Karkaraly District. Pre-trial investigations have been launched into these facts.

"Timely notification of the responsible agencies made it possible to take the necessary measures to protect the minors," the regional prosecutor's office said.

It added that the Karaganda Region's experience received positive assessments, after which the algorithm was rolled out across the entire republic.
