A stone wool production plant has begun operating in the Saran industrial zone in the Karaganda region, a project directly tied to the objectives set out by President Qasym-Jomart Toqaev in his address to the nation, infohub.kz reports.

The "Narodnaya Stroyka" (People's Construction) program envisages large-scale infrastructure development across all regions of the country, which is expected to boost demand for domestically produced building materials. The new facility will produce up to 1.2 million cubic meters of insulation a year, intended for residential, public and industrial buildings. The launch will help supply the construction industry with domestic materials and reduce reliance on imports.

Investment in the project totaled 67 billion tenge, entirely from the company's private funds. The plant itself will create 186 jobs, with around another 1,500 to appear in maintenance and service organizations.

"This is a very important production facility for the region. In his address, President Qasym-Jomart Toqaev announced a large-scale 'Narodnaya Stroyka' program that will cover all regions of the country. It will give a powerful boost to the industry and increase demand for domestic materials. Stone wool is a modern and sought-after thermal insulation product. The main thing is that it be high-quality and competitive. I am confident the new plant will make a substantial contribution to the development of the region's economy," said Yermaganbet Bulekpaev, akim of the region.

Stone wool is made from basalt and other volcanic rocks. The material is used at virtually every construction site, from private housing to industrial enterprises.

"It is used to insulate roofs, facades, floors and interior partitions, as well as in the manufacture of sandwich panels. The main advantages of this material are its environmental friendliness and natural origin. The insulation is based on basalt and other volcanic rocks. Thanks to its very low thermal conductivity, it is indispensable in construction, ensuring energy efficiency and saving resources," explained Daniyar Mukhamedzhanov, deputy general director of Karaganda Insulation LLP.

The production complex is equipped with modern European equipment. Local raw materials are used in processing, including from a deposit near Balkhash. Once the plant reaches full capacity, it will give an additional boost to the development of logistics and related services.
