A rapid heartbeat and chest pain in young people are far from always linked to a real heart attack. Cardiologist Asemgul Makzhanova explained why Gen Z is increasingly facing such symptoms, according to infohub.kz.

According to the doctor, a burning sensation behind the breastbone in young patients is often not a heart attack but heartburn caused by a love of spicy food. In addition, tachycardia can be triggered by simple sleep deprivation, hidden iron deficiency, or the habit of drinking sweet tea instead of plain water. The specialist stressed that a diagnosis cannot be made based on sensations alone.

The cardiologist explained which everyday habits can cause 'heart' symptoms in young people.

For one, the stomach often masquerades as the heart. That is, a burning sensation behind the breastbone is sometimes mistaken for heart pain, although it can be triggered by spicy food (such as ramen) and the habit of going to bed right after a heavy dinner.

Iron deficiency in the body can also cause shortness of breath and a rapid pulse, and a hidden shortage can occur even with normal hemoglobin.

Sleep and drinks: turning in late at night and sweet caffeinated beverages directly affect heart rate acceleration.

Low physical activity can also become a certain symptom. According to the doctor, a sedentary lifestyle reduces endurance, and usual activities (such as climbing stairs) become hard to handle. Training should start with walking, increasing the load gradually.

However, if new severe pain is accompanied by shortness of breath, cold sweat, or fainting, you should urgently call 103 or 112.
