Armored wheeled vehicles produced in Kazakhstan ten years ago have not experienced any major breakdowns throughout their entire service life, reports infohub.kz.

This information was disclosed following a visit by First Deputy Prime Minister Nurlybek Nalibayev to Kazakhstan Paramount Engineering, part of the Barys Dynamics group of companies.

Aibek Barys, head of the group, presented the results of the holding's enterprises, which provide a full cycle of development and production of defense products. The holding includes: Kazakhstan Paramount Engineering (armored vehicles), WSE (electro-optical systems, radar stations, and communications equipment), WireTech (electronics and electrical systems), as well as the Barys Dynamics School engineering school. Additionally, the holding is implementing the strategic project Barys Truck Manufactury to build a truck and special equipment plant jointly with XCMG, and the ASPAN Great Sky project to produce high-energy materials in Kazakhstan.

"Nurlybek Nalibayev familiarized himself with the full production cycle of modern armored wheeled vehicles: from metal processing and creation of armored capsules to final assembly and testing. The enterprise produces Arlan and Alan-2 vehicles, the Barys family of armored fighting vehicles (4×4, 6×6, 8×8), as well as the advanced Terrex–Barys-A 8×8 platform... Special attention was paid to the reliability of the products, confirmed by certification tests, military service, and participation in the UN peacekeeping mission on the Golan Heights; it should be noted that over 10 years of operation, no serious failures or breakdowns have been recorded," the statement said.

The plant's current capacity allows the production of up to 500 units of equipment per year; to date, more than 400 vehicles have been produced, and the order portfolio until 2028 stands at 224 units. The enterprise has established its own design bureau and trained over 100 Kazakh engineers abroad, which has provided the republic with the necessary competencies in armored vehicle design.

Nurlybek Nalibayev was also presented with advanced developments in robotic platforms, communications equipment, and radar stations with a localization level exceeding 70%, projects for the production of specialized electronics for the defense industry, as well as the activities of the engineering and educational center. Following the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the strategic importance of developing the domestic defense industry, further expanding production localization, introducing advanced technologies, and strengthening Kazakhstan's engineering potential.
