Kazakh athlete Maria Brovkova delivered a strong performance at the 2026 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in Poland, securing a spot in the top five of her event, reports infohub.kz.
On Saturday in Poznan, Brovkova competed in two finals. In the C1 500m, she finished fifth with a time of 2:06.33, the best result so far among all Kazakh representatives at the tournament.
Canada's Sophia Jensen took gold in 2:00.78, Hungary's Agnes Anna Kiss claimed silver in 2:02.80, and Belarus's Elena Nozdreva, competing as a neutral athlete, took bronze in 2:04.80.
In the C2 200m, Brovkova teamed up with Ulyana Kiselyova to finish ninth in 43.99 seconds. The victory went to Belarus's Yulia Trushkina and Inna Nedelkina (42.26), silver to Uzbekistan's Shokhsanam Sherzodova and Nilufar Zokirova (42.52), and bronze to China's Changwen Shuai and Wenjun Lin (42.65).
The World Championships will conclude on August 30.
