Kazakh canoeist Sergey Yemelyanov has completed his performance in the final of the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in Poznan, Poland, finishing seventh, reports infohub.kz.
The Olympian reached the decisive race in the 200-meter men's C1 event. In the final, Yemelyanov covered the distance in 42.06 seconds, tying for 7th-8th place with Georgian Aleksandr Tsivtsivadze. The victory went to Poland's Alexey Kolyadich with a time of 40.95 seconds. Uzbekistan's Artur Guliev took silver (41.05), and Belarus' Andrei Zholobov, competing as a neutral athlete, claimed bronze (41.15).
So far, Yemelyanov's result is the best among Kazakh participants at the tournament. On Saturday, August 29, Maria Brovkova will compete in the final of the women's C1 500 meters, and will also vie for medals in the C2 200 meters with Ulyana Kiseleva.
In parallel, para-canoe competitions are underway in Poznan. Kazakhstan's Maxim Bogatyrev finished seventh in the 200-meter VL1 class (athletes with physical impairments). Marzhan Bilalova placed ninth in the corresponding women's event.
