A tragedy at a construction site in the South Korean capital: a Kazakh citizen was killed when part of a concrete ceiling collapsed. Kazakhstan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the death, according to infohub.kz.

According to Yonhap news agency, part of a concrete ceiling collapsed on Tuesday at an apartment building construction site in southern Seoul, killing a Kazakh worker.

According to South Korea's Ministry of Labor, the man, about 30 years old, was waiting for cleaning work to begin in one of the apartments on the 23rd floor of the building. At around 9:45 a.m., part of the concrete ceiling collapsed and struck him.

The ministry added that the country's Ministry of Labor immediately suspended work at the site and launched an investigation into the incident together with police and construction safety authorities.

Police and the labor ministry intend to establish the cause of the accident and determine whether the companies involved violated labor safety laws.

Kazakhstan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the death of the country's citizen to a NUR.KZ correspondent. "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms the death of a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Seoul as a result of an accident at a construction site. The competent authorities of the Republic of Korea have launched an investigation into the incident. Kazakh diplomats have established contact with the relatives of the deceased and are providing them with consular and legal assistance," the statement said.
