A regular meeting of Kazakhstan's Citizenship Commission, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Yerlan Karin, has been held. Following its outcome, a proposal will be submitted to the head of state to grant Kazakh citizenship to 255 people, the website infohub.kz reports.
In addition, the commission will recommend approving the requests of 43 people to renounce Kazakh citizenship.
According to the deputy prime minister, the downward trend in the number of people seeking to renounce Kazakh citizenship has persisted in recent years. Over the past 8 years, the number of applications to renounce Kazakh citizenship has fallen nearly 40-fold, which in turn testifies to a high level of social optimism in our country.
"As President Qasym-Jomart Toqaev has noted, the strength of our passport grows year by year, which speaks to the growing attractiveness of our country. According to various indices, the Kazakh turquoise passport is the strongest in the region, and our citizens can visit around 80 countries worldwide without a visa," Yerlan Karin said.
Moreover, Kazakh citizenship is becoming increasingly attractive to prominent foreign figures from the IT sector, business, investors, and academic and cultural circles.
"The growing prestige of our country's citizenship is the result of the implementation of presidential reforms in the socioeconomic and sociopolitical spheres, as well as a consequence of the policy of international cooperation pursued by the head of state," the deputy prime minister emphasized.
