Kazakhstan's new Defense Minister, Aidos Myrzakhmetov, held his first working meeting with the ministry's leadership, demanding a tough crackdown on any manifestations of hazing and hazing-like relations in military units, reports infohub.kz.
The Defense Ministry's leadership was tasked with enhancing the real combat readiness of troops, improving the quality of combat training, refining the command system, and advancing weaponry and military equipment.
In addition, the new head of the ministry ordered efforts to strengthen the morale and fighting spirit of service members. He demanded that commanders foster a healthy moral and psychological climate in military units, improve the quality of educational work, and enhance the conditions of service and daily life for soldiers.
Changes should also affect the training of service members. The training of conscripts must align with modern combat conditions, based on analysis of contemporary conflicts and the use of drones, reconnaissance, and communications.
"The army must develop not for the sake of reporting indicators and show events… Every soldier must feel safe," Myrzakhmetov noted.
Special attention at the meeting was given to preparing units for their direct duties. Leaders were required to raise the level of training and achieve full combat readiness of troops in any situation.
Recall that Kazakhstan's President, Qasym-Jomart Toqaev, has stated the need for a deep transformation of the Defense Ministry. The Security Council's apparatus, together with the ministry, must present a military reform plan within ten days.
The head of state ordered the army to transition to digital transformation and to use technology instead of humans wherever possible.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that Toqaev harshly assessed the deaths of 14 service members during exercises in the Mangystau Region. He stated that the families of the deceased would receive necessary assistance, and the actions of officials responsible for the exercises would be investigated.
