A dangerous street race on the Astana-Petropavlovsk highway caught the attention of police in the Akmola region, and both drivers were found and punished, reports infohub.kz.
A video showing two cars overtaking each other at high speed appeared on social media, sparking outrage among users. Witnesses of the reckless driving not only recorded the incident but also urged the drivers to obey traffic rules, noting that such races could lead to tragic consequences.
According to the police department of the Akmola region, after the publication, patrol officers identified both offenders. One driver was located in Astana. The second tried to avoid police by not answering phone calls, but thanks to surveillance cameras, his car was discovered in the Burabay resort area, where he was apprehended.
Both drivers face administrative charges for traffic violations. During questioning, they admitted their guilt and promised not to endanger themselves or other road users in the future.
