During a morning patrol in the Abai region, police officers noticed a Mazda 626 and stopped it for inspection. According to the Interior Ministry's website, a 49-year-old man was behind the wheel. While checking documents, officers did not smell alcohol, but noticed that the driver's speech and movements were slurred.
"According to the medical examination, the driver was under the influence of narcotic substances," the publication states.
Administrative proceedings were initiated against the man. The materials were sent to court, and the car was placed in an impound lot.
The police reminded that driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or toxic substances, as well as allowing such a person to drive, are offenses of heightened public danger.
"Such actions carry severe punishment: arrest for up to 15 days and deprivation of the right to drive for 7 years," police reported.
Law enforcement also urged drivers to follow traffic rules and not get behind the wheel while intoxicated, emphasizing that such actions pose a direct threat to the lives and health of road users.
