Kazakhstan's Yasmina Islamova and Aldiyar Ramazanov claimed silver at the Junior World Artistic Swimming Championships in Budapest. The pair finished second in the mixed duet free routine, according to infohub.kz.
In the final, the Kazakh duo scored 248.1 points, trailing only Spain's Arlet Arnan Santacruz and Eneko Sanchez Aguilar, who took gold with 263.3 points. Bronze went to Japan's Heizo Aitaka and Manami Dodo with 246.9 points.
For Islamova and Ramazanov, this was their second event of the tournament. A day earlier, the pair placed fifth in the technical routine with 208.4 points. In that discipline, Russia's Alina Rumyantseva and Zakhar Trofimov won gold (234.1), Spain's Martina Garcia and Eneko Sanchez Aguilar took silver (221.7), and China's Chen Keyu and Jin Yanxiao earned bronze (217.5).
The mixed duet silver was Kazakhstan's second medal of the championships. Earlier, Viktor Druzin won bronze in the men's solo technical routine.
The Junior World Championships (U19) are being held in Budapest from August 12 to 16. The competition features 300 athletes from 35 countries competing for 11 sets of medals. Kazakhstan is represented by 12 athletes.
