Kazakh mixed martial arts fighter Diyar Nurgozhai successfully made weight for the UFC tournament in Las Vegas, reports infohub.kz.

The 29-year-old athlete will compete in the preliminary card of the Fight Night series. His opponent will be Brazilian Bruno Lopes. At the official weigh-in, both fighters made the light heavyweight limit (up to 93 kg). Nurgozhai weighed in at 205 pounds (93 kg), while Lopes came in at 204.5 pounds (92.8 kg).

The bout between the Kazakh and the Brazilian is scheduled to start on August 9 at approximately 04:30 Astana time. For Nurgozhai, this will be his fourth fight in the UFC. He began his tenure in the league with two losses, but in his last bout he defeated Brazilian Rafael Tobias via unanimous decision.

Overall, in professional MMA, the Kazakh has 11 wins and two losses. The 33-year-old Lopes has 14 wins and three losses.

The main event of the Las Vegas tournament will be a lightweight (up to 70.3 kg) bout between Poland's Mateusz Gamrot and Australia's Quillan Salkilld, who are ranked eighth and twelfth in the division, respectively.
