A resident of the Alakol district in the Zhetysu region has become a social media sensation after showcasing his family camp on the wild shore of the lake. The video tour of the campsite was posted by blogger Mansur Kurmangaliyev and quickly went viral, sparking admiration and jokes, according to infohub.kz.
A man named Askhab organized a self-sufficient vacation with five-star comfort for his huge family. He has 14 grandchildren. As it turns out, tents and sleeping bags are a thing of the past—Askhab-aga has taken wild camping to a whole new level. The family arrived at the shore in a massive custom bus equipped inside like a luxury compartment, with full sleeping quarters and air conditioning.
The blogger also showed a huge summer kitchen with gas stoves, plenty of dishes, and a large table that easily accommodates the entire big family. Right by the water, the grandfather set up a full bench for bench press and a barbell with heavy plates—to keep in shape during the holidays.
Netizens were delighted by Askhab-aga's ingenuity and care. Commenters called him "the best grandpa in the country" and admired his hard work. The most common concern was whether such a homemade camper van would incur taxes from the state. "Five stars," "Wonderful! Have a great holiday," "Awesome," "Great job, grandpa!" users wrote.
Earlier, it was reported that the popular Kazakh lake Alakol could receive a record 2 million tourists this year. This was announced at a government meeting by the akim of the Zhetysu region, Beibit Isabayev.
