Employees of Kazakhstan's judicial system are facing a new requirement: judges and staff of the Cassation Courts must submit screenshots confirming their voluntary renunciation of participation in gambling and betting for a period of 10 years. The agency's internal security department is collecting these reports as part of anti-corruption efforts, infohub.kz reports.
The restriction on participation in gambling and betting was introduced in accordance with Subparagraph 6 of Paragraph 1 of Article 12 of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Combating Corruption."
A 10-year self-exclusion can be set through the eGov Mobile app in the section "Service for Restricting Participation in Gambling and (or) Betting."
"After setting the restriction, we ask that you take a screenshot of the confirmation and provide it to the internal security department," the court said.
The agency recalled that compliance with anti-corruption restrictions is an important element of ensuring legality, transparency, and integrity in public service.
Recall that on July 8, 2024, President of Kazakhstan Qasym-Jomart Toqaev signed a law on combating gambling addiction. It provides for a ban on participation in gambling for civil servants, military personnel, employees of special and law enforcement agencies, as well as heads of budget organizations. Those who fail to comply with the law will be dismissed.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that in Akmola Region, prosecutors identified civil servants who were addicted to gambling. One of the gambling-addicted officials systematically placed bets through a bookmaker's mobile app, spending 5.7 million tenge.
