Kazakh judoka Azhar Askhat has won a silver medal at the Summer Asian Games in Aichi and Nagoya, Japan, according to infohub.kz.

Competing in the under-70-kilogram weight class, the national team member advanced to the final. In the gold-medal match, the Kazakh athlete faced home favorite Rin Maeda of Japan.

The final took place on the tatami at Aichi International Arena. The Japanese athlete ended the contest early, with Maeda winning by ippon at the 1-minute 18-second mark. She had also earned a yuko score earlier.

As a result, Askhat finished second and secured a silver medal for Kazakhstan at the 2026 Asian Games.

Also on the same day of competition, another Kazakh representative won a medal in the men's judo tournament. In the under-81-kilogram weight class, Adilet Almat also took silver after losing to Japan's Sotaro Fujiwara in the final.
