Education Minister Guldzhiz Suleimenova commented at a government briefing on parents' complaints about the quality of textbooks and malfunctioning electronic diaries, reports infohub.kz.
Journalists noted that parents of schoolchildren complain about the inconvenient format of textbooks due to different sizes, as well as the quality of soft covers - by the end of the year, textbooks fall apart.
The minister acknowledged the problem: "Yes, this problem exists. Now we are considering using artificial intelligence to create a new format of textbooks. We already have a pilot project, testing in 40 schools. This is E-oqulyq or AI-oqulyq, where all our textbooks are combined on one platform."
She also said that this year the ministry conducted analytical work and identified about 700 errors in textbooks. Now, a new edition is being published gradually with publishers. In several regions, including Shymkent, parents complained about the lack of new textbooks. The ministry responded promptly: textbooks have been purchased, and this week they will be delivered to students.
Regarding the uniform size of textbooks, Suleimenova said that this issue is being studied, and the solution could be the AI-oqulyq project with a single platform. Regarding LMS systems (learning management systems), she explained: currently, four LMS systems are functioning, which operate under the education law with local executive bodies. Akimats themselves have the right to choose one or another system, so local executive bodies are responsible for their functioning and personal data.
