In the era of social media and the instant spread of fake news, media literacy has become a matter not only of digital security but also of spiritual responsibility. The Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan (SAMK) has drawn attention to the problem of disseminating false information, citing the book by Supreme Mufti Nauryzbai kazhy Taganuly... reports the website infohub.kz.
As noted by Nurbolat Serikuly, a member of the SAMK youth council, Kazakh ancestors attached sacred significance to the word, but today a single click or blind forwarding of a message can deceive thousands of people. In Islamic tradition, information hygiene was prescribed centuries ago.
"The Holy Quran says: 'O you who have believed, if there comes to you a disobedient one with information, investigate...' (Surah Al-Hujurat, verse 6). In the era of social media, this principle obliges every person to verify the accuracy of information and not become an accomplice in spreading falsehood," he explained.
SAMK emphasized that spreading unverified data, slander, or false rumors directly violates the principle of honesty, which applies not only to earnings but also to words, promises, and public actions.
Special emphasis in the work is placed on educating young people who are at the epicenter of information noise. Access to knowledge through smartphones has become unprecedentedly easy, but the abundance of information in itself does not make a person educated.
"Carelessly perceived data can cause harm. It is important for young people to develop not only information literacy but also spiritual immunity, to be able to filter the useful from the destructive," he added.
In the 25 chapters of the book "Islam and an Honest Society," it is emphasized that building an honest society begins with the responsibility of each individual user for their words, reposts, and publications in the digital space.
Earlier, the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan made a statement regarding the increasing cases of violence against women. Muslims consider such acts unacceptable and strongly condemn them.
