The Abai Kazakh National Opera and Ballet Theater presented Aram Khachaturian's ballet "Spartacus" on the stage of the ancient theater in Aspendos. This is reported by infohub.kz.
The famous ancient theater of Aspendos served as the backdrop for the performance. The stands, which are about two thousand years old, were filled that evening with spectators of the Kazakh troupe's production.
According to the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, about 30,000 people attended the "Spartacus" performances. The Abai Theater came to the festival at the invitation of the General Directorate of State Opera and Ballet Theaters of Turkey.
"Spartacus" was presented in a production by choreographer Zaurbek Raibaev. The lead roles were performed by Arkhat Ashirbek, Aiman Egisbaeva, Syrym Ayupov, and Zhanel Tukeva.
The performance also featured ballet dancers and the theater's symphony orchestra under the baton of Honored Worker of Kazakhstan Nurzhan Baibusinov.
The theater was built in the 2nd century AD, during the Roman Empire. It has survived to this day and is now used as a venue for concerts and theatrical performances.
Earlier, the artists of the Kazakh National Opera and Ballet Theater staged a performance at Istanbul Airport as the troupe was heading to the ancient city.
