In honor of the International Day of Older Persons, 274,200 pensioners in Kazakhstan will receive one-time payments totaling 3.8 billion tenge. The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan explained who will qualify for the financial assistance, according to infohub.kz.
The payment is available to recipients of minimum and below-minimum pensions in Astana, the Ulytau region, and Pavlodar and Akmola regions. The Ministry of Labor added that in 2026, more than 6.6 billion tenge has been allocated for social support to about 120,000 elderly Kazakhstanis. These funds are used to buy firewood, coal and medicines, cover household and utility expenses, and pay for treatment, health improvement and sanatorium-resort care.
Recall that today about 2.6 million citizens in Kazakhstan receive old-age pension payments.
Since January 1, 2026, the size of solidarity pensions has been increased by 10%. In addition, the basic pension payment has been raised due to a change in the subsistence minimum. This year, the minimum basic pension has been brought to 70% of the subsistence minimum, while the maximum has risen from 110% to 118%.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that pensioners in Astana would receive almost 11,000 tenge each for the Day of Older Persons.
