Kazakhstan's canoe slalom team missed out on medals in kayak cross at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan. On Friday, medals were awarded in both the men's and women's events, and the only Kazakh to reach the main final was Yekaterina Tarantseva, who finished fourth in the decisive race, coming up just short of her second individual medal of the tournament, infohub.kz reports.
China's Chen Lin won the women's final, with her compatriot Xu Linxi taking bronze. Silver went to Chang Chuhan of Chinese Taipei. Another Kazakh, Anastasia Ananyeva, was eliminated in the quarterfinals.
In the men's event, Vladislav Ryabko and Aleksandr Korobov represented Kazakhstan. Both reached the small final and finished fifth and eighth overall, respectively. Japan's Yuuki Tanaka and Kazuya Adachi claimed gold and silver, while China's Quan Xin completed the top three.
Thus, Kazakhstan's canoe slalom team ended the 2026 Asian Games with three bronze medals. Tarantseva and Korobov (both in K1) and Ananyeva (C1) reached the podium.
