Kazakh shooter Valeriy Rakhimzhan placed fifth in the men's 10m air pistol final at the 2026 Asian Games. In the decisive round, he scored 177.6 points, infohub.kz reports.
Uzbekistan's Vladimir Svechnikov won the event with 244.3 points, setting an Asian Games record. China's Hu Kai took silver with 243.0, while his compatriot Bu Shuaihang finished third with 222.1.

Rakhimzhan advanced to the final after finishing fourth in qualification. Fellow Kazakhs Kirill Fedkin and Eldar Imankulov placed 33rd and 57th, respectively, and did not reach the final.
Qualification results also counted toward the team standings. Kazakhstan finished tenth with 1705 points. China and Indonesia both scored 1743 points, but Chinese shooters took first place due to a higher number of inner tens — 70 versus 57. Japan finished third with 1730 points.
A day earlier, Kazakhstan was also represented in the women's final. Valeriya Popelova finished seventh. The Kazakh women's team also placed tenth in the team standings.
The XX Summer Asian Games in Japan officially opened on September 19. The competition features athletes from 45 countries and will award 460 sets of medals. Kazakhstan's team at the 2026 Asian Games includes 558 athletes competing in 35 sports.
