Specialists from Kazakhstan shared their experience with colleagues in Dushanbe, performing complex surgeries and over a hundred consultations in two days, reports infohub.kz.
During the visit, doctors from the National Scientific Center of Traumatology and Orthopedics applied modern minimally invasive techniques to treat patients in Tajikistan. The work covered several areas: spine surgery, foot and ankle orthopedics, and arthroscopy.
The most complex were spine operations. Department heads Murat Baidarbekov and Seidaly Abdaliev operated on a patient with degenerative lumbar stenosis accompanied by severe radicular pain syndrome. The surgeons performed decompression of neural structures at two levels (L4-L5 and L5-S1), installed a transpedicular system and interbody cages.
Another operation was performed on a 13-year-old patient with scoliosis, correcting a complex spinal deformity.
In foot and knee surgery, head of orthopedic department No. 2 Kairat Tazhin operated on a 24-year-old patient with post-traumatic ankle arthrosis of the third degree and severe foot deformity. The young man underwent triple arthrodesis to correct the deformity and stabilize the foot.
Another patient with ankle instability underwent Watson-Jones procedure. The minimally invasive intervention was performed by head of arthroscopy and sports injury department Nurzhan Asanov. He also performed two arthroscopic knee surgeries: medial meniscus suture and capsuloligamentous plasty.
"In total, over two days of work in Tajikistan, Kazakh specialists conducted more than 100 consultations and performed about ten surgical operations," the Ministry of Health said.
