A 14-year-old Kazakh footballer, Karim Mendikanov, has signed a contract with Spanish club Barcelona. He will now play for the Catalan club's youth teams, reports infohub.kz.

"I am very proud to have signed with the club of my life," Mendikanov wrote on social media, attaching a photo from Barcelona's office.

Mendikanov was born on November 10, 2011 in Uralsk. Before moving to Barcelona, he played for the Catalan club San Cugat. He also has one appearance for the Kazakhstan under-16 national team.

Earlier, another Kazakh footballer, 17-year-old Dastan Satpayev, moved from Almaty's Kairat to London's Chelsea. The English club paid a record 4.3 million euros for the forward's rights. Satpayev ended his last match for Kairat with a brace.
