Kazakh tennis player Timofey Skatov has ended his run at the 2026 US Open, losing to Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov in the semifinals of the qualifying tournament, reports infohub.kz.
Skatov, ranked 205th in the world, faced Dimitrov, who peaked at No. 3 in the rankings and is currently 137th. The match lasted two sets, with the first going to a tiebreak. Dimitrov won 7:6 (7:5), 6:4.
The players spent 2 hours and 1 minute on court. During that time, Skatov hit four aces, committed the same number of double faults, and failed to convert his only break point.
Dimitrov advanced to the qualifying final, where he will compete for a spot in the main draw against Finland's Otto Virtanen. The season's final Grand Slam is played on hard courts in New York.
