Kazakh mixed martial arts fighter Diyar Nurgozhai secured his second consecutive UFC victory, knocking out Brazilian Bruno Lopes at UFC Fight Night 284 in Las Vegas. The light heavyweight bout (up to 93 kg) ended in a technical knockout in the first round, reports infohub.kz.
Nurgozhai dropped his opponent with a precise left hand late in the first round, then followed up with a series of strikes, forcing the referee to stop the fight at the 4:59 mark. This was Nurgozhai's first stoppage win in the UFC.
After four UFC bouts, Nurgozhai's record stands at two wins and two losses. He previously lost to Brendson Ribeiro and Uran Satybaldiev via submission, and in March 2026, he defeated Rafael Tobias by unanimous decision. His overall professional record is 12 wins and two losses.
For his stoppage victory over Lopes, Nurgozhai earned an additional $25,000 bonus.
In the main event, Poland's Mateusz Gamrot faced Australia's Quillan Salkilld. The lightweight bout (up to 70 kg) ended in the first round: Salkilld, defending against a submission attempt, took his opponent's back and forced a tapout via rear-naked choke at 4:25. For the Australian, this was his sixth straight UFC win, and he received a $100,000 bonus for his performance in the main event.
