Kazakh violinist Yerassyl Khamit, a member of the ORF Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien, gave a concert in Almaty at the Grand Concert Hall named after Yerkegali Rakhmadiyev of the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory, reports infohub.kz.
On August 27, the concert titled "From Vienna to Buenos Aires" took place, blending Viennese classical works with Argentine tango.
The highlight of the evening was Khamit's performance of Ludwig van Beethoven's Violin Concerto. The musician's performance was met with prolonged applause.
For Yerassyl Khamit, the concert held special significance. According to him, Almaty is the historical homeland of his ancestors, including his grandfather.
"It is a great honor for me to perform here, on the historical homeland where my ancestors lived and worked, including my grandfather. I feel a special connection to this land. This hall is beautiful, and the reception from the audience was very warm — such moments give incredible inspiration," the violinist shared.
A special moment of the evening was the participation of Yerassyl Khamit's parents in the chamber orchestra. Together with their son, they took the stage, continuing the family musical tradition.
In the second part of the concert, Astor Piazzolla's "The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires" was performed. The piece served as a vibrant continuation of the program, allowing the audience to experience a blend of academic music and Argentine tango.
At the end of the event, on behalf of Deputy Prime Minister — Minister of Culture and Information Aida Balayeva, Yerassyl Khamit was presented with a bouquet of flowers as a sign of respect and gratitude.
It is worth recalling that Yerassyl Khamit was born in Almaty. He studied violin in St. Petersburg, Moscow, Salzburg, and Vienna. The Kazakh musician has won high awards and performs at international competitions with renowned symphony orchestras.
