A Kazakh woman was detained during an immigration raid on the Indonesian island of Bali. She is being held at the Ngurah Rai immigration office, where officials are reviewing her documents and the circumstances of her stay in the country, according to infohub.kz.
The inspection took place in the Umalas area. Besides the Kazakh woman, whose initials the agency gave as AS, three Russian women were present at the villa. According to Indonesia's immigration service, all four women held temporary stay permits, though their validity periods differed. The agency's statement did not specify what violation the Kazakh woman is accused of.
In total, 13 foreigners — 12 women and one man — were detained during raids in the Umalas, Seminyak and Canggu areas. The checks were part of an operation to identify possible use of residence permits for prostitution-related activity. They were prompted by reports from local residents and a review of online information, the immigration service said. The agency did not state that the Kazakh woman was engaged in such activity.
The detainees are undergoing verification. According to Muhammad Novyandri, head of the Ngurah Rai immigration office, the outcome could include deportation and a five-year entry ban, as well as criminal proceedings. No decisions regarding the Kazakh woman have been announced yet.
As of publication, Kazakhstan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs had not publicly commented on the situation.
