In Petropavlovsk, a court has concluded the trial of a 21-year-old local woman who accused four men of rape. In the end, she herself ended up in the dock for giving false testimony, reports infohub.kz.

According to Channel 7, the incident occurred last year. The woman told police that in one of the city's apartments, four men held her against her will, and two of them committed sexual assault against her. Based on her statement, a criminal case was opened.

However, during the court proceedings, the alleged victim unexpectedly changed her testimony, claiming that she had consensual sex and tried to withdraw her complaint. As the investigation found, she demanded 1.5 million tenge from the men in exchange for changing her testimony.

As a result, a criminal case was opened against the woman for knowingly false denunciation. The court found her guilty and sentenced her to five years in prison. However, thanks to an amnesty law, the sentence was reduced by one third, and given that she had no prior convictions, admitted guilt, and repented, she was given a suspended sentence of 3 years and 4 months with probation supervision.

Head of the prosecutor's office department, Yerlan Zhamuldinov, explained: "Since it is a grave crime, the term was reduced by one third. And taking into account her personality, that is, she had no prior convictions, and there were mitigating circumstances, such as admission of guilt and repentance, she was given a probationary period with probation supervision. If she violates it, she will go to serve the full sentence in prison."
