An individual entrepreneur stood trial in Kokshetau accused of large-scale fraud: she took about 70 million tenge from citizens by promising them jobs in England, infohub.kz reports.

According to the official Telegram channel of the courts of Akmola Region, the Kokshetau City Court heard a criminal case against a woman accused of fraud by deception and abuse of trust of users of an information system and the internet, on an especially large scale (Article 190, Part 4, Clause 2 of the Criminal Code).

The court found that since 2024, a Kokshetau resident and individual entrepreneur had been providing services for processing documents for employment abroad.

On a social network, the defendant posed as a blogger and posted information about her services. Misleading citizens, she signed contracts with them for employment abroad, arranged visas and medical insurance, discussed flight times to England, and collected money for her services.

For the supposed processing of documents, she charged each applicant between 250,000 and 1 million tenge. After receiving the money, she failed to fulfill her obligations and evaded responsibility (avoided meetings and stopped answering phone calls).

The case identified 92 victims from the cities of Kokshetau, Astana, Karaganda, and the Akmola, Karaganda, Kostanay, North Kazakhstan, and Kyzylorda regions. The damage amounted to about 70 million tenge.

The woman's guilt was confirmed by victim testimony, examination of documents, bank statements, and other case materials. When imposing the sentence, the court considered the presence of minor children as a mitigating circumstance.

The court sentenced her to 6 years and 8 months in prison with a 5-year ban on activities involving attracting citizens' funds into commercial and other activities.

Under Article 74, Part 1 of the Criminal Code, the execution of the prison sentence was deferred for 1 year due to the presence of two minor children in her care.

Civil claims filed by 28 victims were satisfied, with material damages awarded ranging from 200,000 tenge to more than 1 million tenge each.

The court verdict has not entered into legal force.

Recall that earlier it was reported that police in Kokshetau were investigating a criminal case of fraud involving employment abroad. The damage was estimated in the tens of millions of tenge.
