A citizen of Kazakhstan has gone missing after crossing the Nepal-China border with a tourist group. Her whereabouts remain unknown, reports infohub.kz.
According to preliminary data, the woman was part of a tourist group that crossed from Nepal into China.
"The current whereabouts of our citizen are not known. Search efforts are underway. Kazakh diplomats are in contact with local authorities," said Zhanbolat Ussenov, official representative of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry, as quoted by Kursiv.
Other details, including when exactly the group crossed the border and under what circumstances the woman disappeared, have not been disclosed.
Earlier reports indicated that after a devastating flood on the Nepal-China border, hundreds of tourists were listed as missing. According to Nepalese authorities, over 160 people died, and 579 tourists were on the missing list, including 466 foreigners from 28 countries.
The disaster occurred on August 26 in the high-altitude Rasuwa district, where torrents of water, mud, and rocks destroyed homes, roads, bridges, and other infrastructure.
