Starting October 1, Kazakh women will be able to travel to Tashkent in a dedicated women-only carriage on the international train No. 1/2 Almaty-Tashkent, reports infohub.kz.

This is the first international route where the national carrier introduces a women-only carriage. Previously, such carriages were used only on domestic routes in Kazakhstan.

According to the company, the service has proven popular: since its launch, over 946,000 passengers have used women-only carriages.

"Given the route's popularity and growing passenger traffic, we decided to introduce a women-only carriage on this route. This service is also in high demand on domestic railway routes," said Anuar Akhmetzhanov, Chairman of the Management Board of JSC "Passenger Transportation".

The Almaty-Tashkent train runs daily. It departs from Almaty at 19:05 and arrives in the Uzbek capital at 12:53 local time. The return train departs at 14:41 and arrives in Almaty at 08:51.

Only women can purchase tickets for the women-only carriage. Boys up to and including seven years old are allowed to travel with them. Only female attendants will work in this carriage.

When purchasing tickets online, seats in the women-only carriage can be identified by the designation "ZHN". Sales open 45 days before departure.

After the launch of the new route, the service will be available on 14 railway routes.
