Three citizens of Kazakhstan are missing in the disaster zone on the Nepal-China border, reports infohub.kz.
Zhanbolat Usenov, official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, said on his Telegram channel that information has been received about a third tourist from Kazakhstan who is believed to have been in the disaster zone on the Nepal-China border. Kazakh diplomats are working with the authorities of both countries, and the search for the compatriots continues.
Earlier it was reported that a landslide triggered by an earthquake occurred near the border crossing between China and Nepal. Subsequently, a powerful flood led to the disappearance of thousands of people. The earthquake and the subsequent landslide were cited as the cause of the major flood.
On August 27, it became known about the search for a tourist from Kazakhstan who crossed the border from China into Nepal as part of a tourist group. The day before, information appeared about the search for another citizen of the country who went missing during the floods.
