A lively discussion has erupted in the Kazakh segment of the social network Threads over a monument with a message to descendants from the country's first president, Nursultan Nazarbayev, installed on the grounds of the Karakhan mausoleum in Taraz. Users are speculating about the contents of the time capsule and joking about the possible secrets the former head of state might have left for future generations, reports infohub.kz.
The inscription on the stele states that inside is a letter-message from the first President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, to the future generation. The time capsule is to be opened in 2100.
"In 2100, there will be neither you, nor me, nor him. What did Grandfather Nursultan write?" asks the author of a post on Threads.
Kazakhs in the comments began arguing about what the ex-president wanted to say. One user noted that the monument is already 29 years old, and there is an inscription on the back of the stone as well.
"The first stone of the Aulie-Ata mosque was laid by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev. January 8, 1997," is carved on the back of the stone.
"Oh Allah, let me live to 106 so I can die knowing what's in there, not with an unfulfilled dream," writes user aidok0103.
"Ask ChatGPT, it will find out," jokes commenter baubek_618.
Some users even offered their own versions of the message's contents.
"Imagine if it says: 'May 2100 be full of harmony and unity, and may times of complete prosperity come,'" deciphered commenter bakee.sss.
"Imagine if it says: Made in China," added author zhanbolatshyrban.
However, some suggested not to speculate but simply wait for that time to come and not attach much importance to the words.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that the Foreign Ministry counted dozens of streets, schools, and busts in honor of Nazarbayev abroad.
