Kazakhstan's Ministry of Transport has posted a draft order setting requirements for air taxis on the Open NPAs portal, according to infohub.kz.

The ministry has put the draft order "On Approval of the Rules for Advanced Air Mobility" out for public discussion. The document defines the participants in advanced air mobility, as well as the principles and general requirements for organizing their operations.

However, the full text of the order is not available on the portal — Kazakhstanis can only see a brief summary of the regulatory legal act. In the discussions, some citizens criticized the Ministry of Transport for such a concise description and the absence of a document with the full text of the order.

The description indicates that the order will establish requirements for urban air mobility operators, vertiport operators, and maintenance organizations.

It also outlines requirements for aircraft approved for advanced air mobility, the procedure for their approval for operation, and the maintenance of airworthiness. The drafters have also defined the procedure for organizing and performing flights and the use of airspace.

In addition, the order sets requirements for infrastructure facilities, including vertiports, takeoff and landing sites, and charging infrastructure. It also describes requirements for the flight safety management system and the training and qualification of aviation personnel.

Earlier it was reported that Astana showed how air taxis will fly. Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev, at a press conference in the government, spoke about how much a trip by air taxi might cost. According to him, drone flights will become more affordable over time.

We wrote that the AutoFlight Prosperity electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft is capable of reaching speeds of up to 200 km/h and covering up to 200 km.
