A northwestern anticyclone will dominate Kazakhstan's weather over the next three days, with Kazhydromet forecasters warning of a sharp drop in temperatures, night frosts and the first snow, the website infohub.kz reports.
Under the anticyclone's influence, dry weather is expected on September 27 and 28 in the west, northwest, north, east and southwest of the country. At the same time, passing atmospheric fronts will bring heavy showers and thunderstorms to the east, center, south and southeast of the republic.
Snow may fall at night in the mountainous areas of Almaty Region, with fog expected in places in the morning. In addition, winds will strengthen in most regions, and dust storms are forecast in the south. Frosts of down to 1–3°C will hit at night in the eastern, northern, northwestern and central regions.
A storm warning was issued for most of Kazakhstan on Friday, September 25, due to rain, thunderstorms and strong winds. In Astana, a northeasterly wind is expected in the morning and afternoon. A high fire danger remains in place.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that unfavorable meteorological conditions (UMC) were forecast in six Kazakh cities — Pavlodar, Almaty, Aktobe, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Semey and Ridder.
